Updates
*Bus Passes: We will be able to accept notes for students to ride a different bus other than their own beginning on Monday, September 30. The following buses, however, are at capacity and cannot accept additional riders: Buses 1, 2, 4, 12
*Field Trips: Fall field trips are starting, so please make sure to check your child’s backpack and your email for dates and details. Students should wear comfortable sneakers, dress in layers for the weather, and bring a water bottle. We look forward to all of the adventures to come this year!
*After School Activities: All activities will begin on Wednesday, October 2. Morse Pond activities will be held each week on Wednesday and Thursday from 3:00 - 4:00. Late buses are provided on both days. Your child should have returned the after school activities form today to sign-up for an offering. We will hold more sessions in the winter and spring.
*Orange Shirt Day: Staff and students are invited to wear orange shirts on September 30 in recognition of this important day. Orange Shirt Day is a day of remembrance and education that honors the Indigenous children who were sent away to residential schools in Canada and the U.S. It is also a day to recognize the long-lasting effects these schools have had on survivors, their families, and Indigenous communities. The day promotes the message that "Every Child Matters."
At Falmouth Public Schools, we are committed to fostering a deeper understanding of Indigenous history, celebrating the resilience of Indigenous communities, and supporting reconciliation efforts.
*October School Council and PTO Meetings:
*PTO Meeting at 5:00 in the library
*School Council at 5:30 in the principal’s office
*Community Forum at Morse Pond: Morse Pond will be hosting one of the district’s community meetings to discuss the vision for the future of Falmouth Public Schools. More information can be found using this link: https://www.falmouth.k12.ma.us/future
*Picture Day is October 2: You should have received a paper flier in your child’s backpack. A digital copy was also sent to families on September 26.
*Pajama Day: Students were able to reach our participation goal for the Boosterthon and earned a Pajama Day! Students are invited to wear pajamas to school on October 23.
*Hispanic Heritage Month: At Falmouth Public Schools, we proudly celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month (https://hispanicheritagemonth.gov/) from September 15 to October 15, honoring the significant achievements, resilience, and contributions of Hispanic Americans who have shaped our nation's history and continue to inspire progress. Originally established in 1968 as a week-long observance (https://history.house.gov/HistoricalHighlight/Detail/15032398402?ret=True) under President Lyndon Johnson, Hispanic Heritage Month was expanded to a 30-day celebration by President Ronald Reagan in 1988, marking an official recognition of the vibrant diversity within our communities.
This year’s theme, “Pioneers of Change: Shaping the Future Together, (https://www.nationalcouncilhepm.com/national-hispanic-heritage-month)” calls us to reflect on the trailblazers who are driving meaningful progress and to engage in creating an inclusive future for all.
At Falmouth, we support and embrace all students year-round. Learning about diverse cultures is not limited to designated months but is integrated throughout the year, embedded in our curriculum. Our educators are committed to being culturally responsive in their classrooms, and Heritage Months provide opportunities to celebrate and elevate the work happening year-round.
